YOUR LIFE SPEAKS
CAN PEOPLE SEE THAT YOU BELONG TO JESUS WHEN THEY LOOK AT YOUR LIFE?
YOUR LIFE SPEAKS
Eph. 6:7-8 “Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.”
v8 “Remember that the Lord will reward each one of us for the good we do, whether we are slaves or free.”
CAN PEOPLE SEE THAT YOU BELONG TO JESUS WHEN THEY LOOK AT YOUR LIFE?
We live in a time where everyone says they are a Christian, but everything they do shows the complete opposite.
-
Their life
-
What they say or do
-
The things they keep themselves busy with
Nothing convinces other people their lives belong to Jesus.
AN IMPORTANT VERSE IN THE BIBLE:
1 John 2:6 “Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did.”
ANOTHER IMPORTANT VERSE:
Philippians 2:5 “You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.”
WE CANNOT LIVE LIKE SOMEONE WHO DOESN’T KNOW JESUS.
Our entire lives:
-
Everything we do
-
How we speak to others
-
What we do when we are alone
-
How we do our jobs
Everything must say something about Jesus in our lives.
Remember the Verse we started with, Eph 6:7 “Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.”
THE TALE OF A MISSIONARY:
I remember the story of a missionary who went to do God’s work in another country. When he started telling people about Jesus, everything He has done and said, the people got so excited and said: “We know the Jesus you speak of”.
The missionary told them it was impossible, Jesus lived over 2000 years ago. But they insisted that they know him and will show him where to find him.
They took him to a cemetery and showed him the grave of a man who died a few years back. The missionary told them this was not the Jesus he was talking about.
Eventually the missionary figured out the people were talking about another missionary who once lived in their village. This missionary not only told them he was a Christian, but showed them through the way he lived, that his entire life belonged to Jesus.
IN THE BOOK OF JAMES WE READ:
James 3:11 “Does a spring of water bubble out with both fresh and bitter water?”
v12 “Does a fig tree produce olives, or a grapevine produce figs? No, and you can’t draw fresh water from a salty spring.”
You cannot live the way you want to and also say you are a Christian (a child of God). Other people watch you. Don’t let it scare you, let it motivate you to live a life that speaks about the goodness of God in your life.
IT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW:
Your life influences the people around you, those you live with, work with, your children, your family and anyone you come in contact with.
